ALISON KNOWLES

Born in New York City in 1933, Alison Knowles is a visual artist known for her soundworks, installations, performances, and publications. She is a founding member of Fluxus, the experimental avant-garde group formed in 1962. She recently exhibited Time Samples (found objects, embedded in paper with titles on attached tickets) at the University of Lyon´s Musée des Moulages d´Art Antique. She collaborated with Taketo Shimada´s production of Fluxsweet and recently performed at Miguel Abreu Gallery in New York as part of Agapë, an exhibition on musical notation curated by Alex Waterman. Alison joins FREE SHOW upon her return from participating in Flux East at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin. Her Top Ten was recently featured in the September edition of Artforum (2007).
